GF 256 VS GF3 ti 500.. 256 wins?!

well, i had a GF 3, it stuffed so i had to replace it with a 256 while i got a new one in.. it ran at full detail, no lag at all
so then, i get my GF 3 back..
and woa, laggy as hell.. put detail to lowest.. stilll a little laggy..
whats wrong with that?
any ideas anyone?

I upgraded to an asus gf3 ti200 from a creative geforce ddr while playing this game. It ran better on the old geforce. JK2 has some weird video problems for me. Also without vsync on, I see more vertical tearing than on any other game I have played. oh well :(
